Second time around.

I have decided to repeat the Hebrew online Course A. I started Course B but after the first class I thought it might be best to repeat Course A. So, the first two months or so will just be a slow repetition. I am trying to work on getting the vocabulary down pat. Also a bit more reading out loud. So I am going into the After School Hour and requesting to read every week. So far I am able to get some reading practice in and I have also been getting a bit more translating practice in.

Now as to my needlework. I have been crocheting a shawl. I have been working on it, off and on for several months. I am down to my last boarder side. The Boarder is so much faster and easier and I expect to have it finished in a few days.

Challah Bread

I have been working on learning to make Challah bread. Here is a picture of my results of a 6 braided bread. Looks really good!

Lazy Lazy Lazy, but I'm back

I have got to get more consistent with blogging.
Tonight I have Kidz Life. We had a much smaller group last week. It looks like we are back to 1-4th grade now. Tonight I am going to take John and Layton and go and pick up Asa. That will be a nice addition to whoever else shows up.

Last night was my last Hebrew lesson for Course A. Gosh there is so much to learn and so much of it is leaking out of my ear. I keep cramming stuff in and it just keeps leaking out. I have got to spend one or two hours a day practing my Hebrew. I need to get those paradigm's down pat. It is too hard to try and think on my feet in class when I am having to spend so much time "looking" for the answer. I need to read more out loud. Reading to myself just is not enough when it comes to reading in class time. It will be nice to read better than a kindergardener. I still get my vowel's wrong. I know the right sound but I just don't say them. I am bad about wanting to put an "ah" sound when I am reading too fast.
The Yiqtol verb has proven to be very interesting. We learned the Qatal a couple of weeks ago. These two things have made Hebrew start coming together for me. I hope that with practice and reading out loud I will start to improve.
I think the Hebrew Course B starts towards the end of July. Yepee.

Today's Study

Today I spent quite a bit of time working on my Hebrew. Probably eight hours or so. I studied my 10 new words and I know nine of them. I read selected scriptures from the Classical Hebrew web site. I listened to quite a bit of Hebrew Scripture being read and watching the pronunciation. I learned how personal pronouns worked and how endings can make a noun possessive. I did not learn it well enough to re-create but I did learn it well enough to recognize it when I see it again.
I love how the Hebrew language sings in rhythm when you speak it aloud.

My first Cricut Card

First the Hebrew. I studied today, nothing exciting until class on Tuesday.

Today I made a card for a neighbor's daughter. She is a sweet child with Downs.
They have been gone since before Christmas. Di (the mom) sent us a sweet post card from Arizona. Anyhow, I thought I would make a card for Molly. It is my first but I thought Molly should get it instead of one of my grandsons. They would like it too, but I wanted to use alot of pink and I thought Molly would like pink better.
So here it is.

Sometimes I just don't learn

When you get on the Internet a lot there are a few things that you learn real fast. One is don't talk to strangers, or people stranger than your self.
Two is always say no when they ask if you want to see their picture.
Three is always be upfront and say so if your a Christian.

My yahoo messenger is always on and I follow those rules with almost no exceptions. Today I chatted with a male, whom I initially thought was female. She (who was really a he) popped up and said that she (he) had seen me on one of my knitting groups. Ok, that sort of made her (him) not a stranger, didn't it? Then after a bit of knitting talk, that made me more comfortable, she (who was really a he) said why don't you go look at my yahoo profile so you can see my latest knitted sweater.
That is when I find out that she is a he and he does an excellent job of knitting sweaters. A few general conversation questions and I find out that he is from Germany and he finds out I am from Texas. He also finds out I am a very very very conservative Christian. Let me stress that I wrote Very three times in my response to his questions about me being a Christian. Rule number three is covered, or so I thought. After a few more minutes he asks if I want to see his project on the needles. (Dummy, dummy, dummy) I said yes thinking that it would be another wonderful sweater. So he does the picture sharing and as the picture loads he says that he knits his own underwear. Luckily, he knits long john type of underwear. Dang, that boy can knit. After he asked if I wanted to see another picture of one of his latest projects, I said, sure if it is only of of the sweater. He becomes all offended that I did not want to look at his underwear. I said that I was very conservative and if that offended him than perhaps we had better not chat anymore.
I think that suited him just fine. He told me I could keep my Baptism and he would keep his world.
I WIN !!!!!!! yeppee I get to keep my Baptism. (that would be sarcasm)

Hobbies and Crafts

I thought I would add a few words about my hobbies. I knit, and crochet and quilt, and sew, bake bread, garden, dink with the piano (notice I did not say play), play with my grandsons and of course I study Hebrew.
I just bought a Cricut and I am learning to scrapbook.
Hum... lets stop their and I will surprize you with everything else.

My Mission Statement about Hebrew: da lifnei mi attah omed

It is my purpose to learn the Hebrew language.
I want to use this blog to help me put my excitment to a usefull purpose instead of driving my family and church family crazy.
I am learning Hebrew to be able to read scripture as it was written. It helps me to concentrate on what is being said and not just read the scripture like I was trying to "finish this evening's reading schedule". Jesus helps us to remember that the Good Lord wants us to worship Him in spirt and in truth.
I think that the Good Lord knows when our purpose is to honor Him. I feel that I have simply been going through the motions when it comes to reading scripture, for the past few years. This is my attempt to really listen to what the Good Lord is trying to teach me.
Those that know me, can tell you that I have changed in the past six months. That is how long I have been working with Hebrew.
I am a very slow learner and I know how long it takes me to learn something. So I started learning Hebrew by learning the Aleph Bet. I spent three months just learning the letters and going on hebrew4christians.com. Hebrew4christians is a wonderful web site. I learned to memorize some Hebrew phrases before I could read the letters. One of the first things that I learned has become my focus.

that means "Know before whom you stand", Exodus 3:5.
This has become my whole focus.
After about three months I started looking for Hebrew lessons.
And someone pointed me to Classical Hebrew on line. I love my teacher Catherine. I am ten weeks in and have learned so much and I feel like I am so far behind. Mostly, I think I feel this way because I am the kind of person that has to study four times as much as an adveragely smart person.
